Charice Holtsclaw, Managing Attorney
Charice received her Juris Doctor degree from Washburn School of Law in Topeka in 2005. A member of the Missouri Bar Association, Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association and Clay County Bar Association, Charice is licensed to practice law in Missouri, as well as the Federal Court in the Western District of Missouri and District of Kansas. Charice has worked with hundreds of bankruptcy cases as Managing Attorney of a national bankruptcy law firm, staff attorney for UAW, and Managing Attorney at Heartland Law, LLC. She is a member of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA).
A former contract negotiator, Charice also holds an MBA and serves as an adjunct instructor at Park University’s MBA program. She chose to specialize in bankruptcy and consumer law so she could use her education to help others. In her spare time, she enjoys camping with her husband and son.
Nick Hergott, Of Counsel
Nick graduated from the University of Kansas with bachelors degrees in both Philosophy and Psychology and then attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law. While at UMKC School of Law, Nick was active in the academic community as a staff member of the UMKC Law Review and The Urban Lawyer, and he was selected to compete on the UMKC National Moot Court Team. During the Ellison Moot Court Competition, Nick was awarded best overall appellate brief. Graduating in the top 10% of his class, Mr. Hergott was awarded CALI awards for his academic efforts in Civil Procedure and Civil Litigation Drafting, and was selected by the faculty to the Order of Barristers, a national distinction given to ten members of his graduating class recognizing excellence in legal advocacy.
After graduation, Nick practiced criminal defense and family law as an associate attorney at a metro area law firm. During that time, Nick gained extensive courtroom experience, going to court and fighting for his clients nearly every day. Nick has recently formed his own firm and works of-counsel for Heartland Law LLC representing family law clients.
